Kolkata, Odisha, Chhattisgarh … more Indian adventures

Hello and happy New Year to all our blog followers. We are hoping finally to leave wintry UK on 30 December and to head for Kolkata on a trip that’s been long-planned and twice cancelled (for Covid reasons).

We’ll be posting photos and a bit of text regularly. We’ll be travelling some of the time in protected areas which have a high proportion of what the Indians call ‘Adivasi’ (indigenous and ‘tribal’ people) and others would call ‘First Nation’ people. The areas required a permit to visit until 2012 so there isn’t too much tourist infrastructure and we’re not sure how good internet connections will be. But it wouldn’t be a trip to India without temples, palaces and wildlife (even the odd bird) as well, so we suspect there’ll be plenty of pictures of those too.

There’s a map of our journey on this post – and if you look at the menu at the top of the page, you’ll find an interactive map there so you can follow us if you’re interested and/or home in on areas you’re interested in.

As ever, we would LOVE to have your comments, questions and feedback as we travel, and we promise to respond (knowing Sue, with the odd witticism or two).
