Leaving soggy loo paper and concrete bed behind us

Our two days in Nong Khiaw were quite an experience because our room (see view below) was right on the river and had great views when it wasn’t raining but: a) everything was extremely soggy including the sheets, towels, loo paper and, by the time we left, all our possessions; b) the bed was literally made of concrete; c) we found the most ginormous spider I have ever seen in our room. Tempted though I was, there are understandably no photos. Today moved on via a visit to a village which had snakes in bottles of whisky for sale – no pictures of these either. But we did come across these two beautiful women and this little boy pretending to be pregnant. Needless to say Luang Prabang ridiculously luxurious in comparison.

  1. That spider must have done sue’s peace of mind no good! No photo of pretending to be pregnant boy though😢

    1. Now, now… But yes, you’re right, we didn’t “sleep” 😴 on the concrete bed. We just lay awake on mosquito and spider guard! Sue says given the size of the spiders, you could probably hear them coming. But there were two very charming creaky frogs doing call and response.
