Thanks for following us on our trip round South East Asia and to those of you who commented, thanks so much! Happy New Year and all the best for 2016. We return to London today Jan 1st and leave you with our final two pictures. Love M and S
We finally managed the Perfect New Year's Eve: delicious room service, decent bottle of wine from the Seven-Eleven down the road, live music from the hotel band floating up to our private balcony playing great music and the the view below!
We made it to the Grand Palace and decided that there were too many people so we left, caught an air-conditioned taxi to MBK shopping mall and had a wonderful "street" lunch in an air-conditioned mall. So much for sight-seeing.
In case anyone doesn't know, I'll be 60 on Saturday and the hotel delivered this sweet (and delicious) birthday cake just now! Sue sang an early happy birthday but we couldn't light the candles ... Smoke-free building and all that.
We left quiet Laos today to land at Bangkok where we saw more people in the passport control queue than we did in a week in Laos. Hotel suite is marvellous - 22nd floor on a corner facing the river with the anticipation of fireworks tomorrow night. See view below.
