We left quiet Laos today to land at Bangkok where we saw more people in the passport control queue than we did in a week in Laos. Hotel suite is marvellous – 22nd floor on a corner facing the river with the anticipation of fireworks tomorrow night. See view below. Went to Asiatique which is an enormous night market near the hotel. Obviously the place to come and selfy- and be selfied.

Thanks Chris. Depends on New Year’s Eve stuff but exploring it as one option. Other options include eating take-away in our apartment!
At the risk of cementing my pedantic reputation, surely ‘being selfied’ is ‘having a photo taken’? Anyway, it all looks amazing and certainly you have confirmed that south east Asia ought to be our next major destination.
Well, you could say so, or I could out-pedantic you by saying that if you are having your photo taken by someone with a selfy stick who is also in the photo, that is being selfied – and of course having your photo taken at the same time.

You must have woken up to New Year’s Eve by now. What a fantastic view you have over the Chao Praya! If I were you I’d certainly be staying up on the 22nd floor enjoying room service tonight. I don’t know the population of Bangkok but they’ll probably all be out on the streets. Thanks for the PC – it arrived today, and yes S and I did spend time in Laos – an unforgettable experience.
