It’s too complicated to explain all the different civilizations, wars, religions etc that flowed through this site, now UNESCO. But we hit it on a glorious day with a chill in the air. Having slogged around its uneven surface, and tried to find the very prison into which Saint Paul was thrown (and subsequently released by an earthquake), we joined the sensible Greeks drinking coffee under the trees (not having bothered to see the site).

glorious site – beautiful photos
Wonderful place – and no one there! All drinking coffee.
Photo of statuesque cat and faceless man is eloquent. A cat may look…
This is a chosen cat. M spent sometime waiting for it to look up. Place was full of seriously enchanting cats – all small, tidy and clean..
A millefeuille indeed – I’d love to see more of your photos of Philippi when we see you next. Hope the coffee matched the near mythological status of the place!
Coffee was excellent and M has many, many photos to share – we’ll meet soon!
