Many of our friends have told us how much they loved Peru and so we are finally off to explore the country. We hope that, whether you’ve been or not, you’ll join us on our travels which will include mountains, desert, sea, rural communities, markets, Spanish colonial cities, many archaeological spectacles and even alpacas. We’ll be away 8 January-1 February, hoping to miss the worst of the British gloom. Although we’re hoping to travel widely in the country including to the less-visited Northern coast, we won’t be going to the Amazon – humidity, mosquitoes, snakes (Miriam’s phobia) and spiders (Sue’s phobia) make this a less than appealing prospect.
We’ll try to keep you entertained with our observations, photos of people, food, mountains, archaeology, alpacas and anything else that catches our eye. We’ll do our best to give some context to what we’re seeing without going on too much. There’s bound to be some rain since it’s the raining season in the mountains but this time Sue has packed her thermals, so we hope to avoid going on about the cold.
And of course, we’d love to have comments if you feel like making them – Sue will do her best to respond with her driest wit.
But if it is not what you need or want right now, it’s easy to unsubscribe – details should be provided in the email you received alerting you to this post..

Dear Sue and Miriam, wishing you a wonderful trip and looking forward to reading your always very entertaining and enlightening blog.
Love from Jens
Thank you dear Jens! Amazingly M used AI to generate the alpaca/flag photo – spooky! Maybe we don’t need to go at all.
I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing what you get up to in Peru. Buen viaje!
Thank you Blaize ! I wish my Spanish was as good as yours!
Bon voyage or buen viaje more appropriately. Que os diverties!
Oh no! More Spanish! This is perhaps the moment for me to master/mistress google translate…
It means ‘enjoy yourselves’ I hope. Charlie told me what write!
Happy travels. V glad the thermals are packed
You and me both!
Have a great trip!!
All good so far ( I’m writing this from Terminal 4 ..)
No Macchu Picchu ? Have a great trip
Keeping options open – no tickets for MP last time we looked…
Hope you have a wonderful time!
All good so far!
Journey v smooth – now preparing for day 1 in Lima..
Safe journey and have a fantastic time! PS
PS: The missing PS was going to be about not being too disappointed about tickets to Macchu Picchu being unobtainable – suggests it’s overrun.
M, as you would expect, has been checking for Machu Pichu tickets but none yet available – maybe just a rather sluggish start to the new year? Who knows. Lots of Xmas trees in Lima..
