That’s right – it’s January so we’re off again to get away from the worst of the weather (provided we can get to the airport without any snow hold-ups). We leave on Thursday 8 January and are back on Tuesday 3 February.
This time, we’re going to the relatively untouristy Tamil area in the north of Sri Lanka for the first part of our holiday, joined by our friend Nikhil. We then come back to India where he goes home to Jaipur and we revisit Tamil Nadu which we went to many years ago – our featured photos are taken from that time. Expect photos of exuberant temples, sub-tropical scenery, excited pilgrims and whatever else takes our fancy.

We’ve made a map – of course – so that you can follow us on our adventures. You’ll find a link here and in the menu above where you can explore our itinerary in more detail.
We absolutely love your comments – and Sue promises to answer all of them with her witty repartee on show for all to enjoy.
As ever, this may not be what you need or want right now – so please do unsubscribe using the link in your email and you’ll stop getting updates. Otherwise expect an email about once a day when wifi is stable.
Dear Miriam – thank you – this is exactly what we DO need right now! Safe travels and looking forward to being a virtual guest with you and Sue on your adventures. Love, Maria
And we will be delighted to have you travel with us ( lurking or not!).
Have a fascinating time. We look forward to e-travelling with you. We’ll be in the air at the same time – heading home to Australia. x
Hope your homeward journey has gone smoothly and Melbourne not too much of a shock after Vietnam…
Have fun, no idea how much we’ll be able to track your adventures but will be waving to you with enthusiasm from the south of the island when you’re in the north
Yes, very big waves needed I think – and have a great trip yourselves!
Happy travels – well done for leaving this particularly nasty weather behind
Yes, indeed – warm and quite humid here and apparently a cyclone on its way to Sri Lanka but heigh, no snow or frost – bright sun later in the week ( sorry, sounding like a weather forecast…)
Oh goody a chance to be an armchair tourist again and look at faraway places (without snow). Have fun.
Yes, indeed, Blaize, though being India this won’t have the quiet calm of Japan I suspect – and much crazier driving…
Hope the snow wasn’t too much of an impediment, the flight was tolerable and you are now basking in lovely sunshine. Regards to Nikhil from us.
No snow at all on the drive to the airport and super comfortable flight with excellent food. The sun basking hasn’t happened yet as quite a bit of today was spent dealing with the imminent arrival of a cyclone in northern Sri Lanka – ah well, you win some, you lose some. Will pass on your regards to Nikhil of course.
Have a great time. Loved Sri Lanka. I particularly enjoyed going to Jaffna and our drive up through the country. It had a very different feel to the South. So, will be interested to hear your observations and see your pictures.
