This doesn’t quite do justice to our climb, but it gives you a sense … And of course, we climbed all 700 steps barefoot. It was a wonderful Jain monument in Karnataka on an extremely high and very hard hill. See the second (or first, depending on your connection) photo for the statue!
Gosh looks amazing and I imagine was worth the climb. Did you ask the guide if there was another distinguishing factor to this statue? This is the first time I’ve seen the Gautama Buddha depicted with such a prominent penis – indeed any penis at all!

We do have a close-up of the genitalia which I was going to share with my family, along with the testes of an enormous Nandi bull in Bangalore – you are welcome to both (but I will refrain from posting unless there is demand from our readers).
I notice a sort of stunned silence following this exchange. Actually, until yesterday’s guide pointed out the huge balls of the Nandi bull ( see, the bull is fertile) I’d not noticed them before – perhaps we’d simply not gone all the way round before…
