Sue and Miriam, your blog is accomplishing an amazing feat: making me think I might like to go back to Southeast Asia (where I visited some of the same places you did), when in the past I’ve always thought, “That was interesting, I’m glad I went, but once was enough!” I liked Luang Prabang especially and your photos bring back pleasant memories. The mind boggles at what might be the correction for interfering with the price of rice! I have images of you being chased down the street by someone brandishing a stick ornate I got the wrong end of the stick?!

Hi,Sue here! I think I have heard the big horns sort of predawn – wonderful sound. In terms of rice manipulation, remember we’re in the people’s democratic republic so completely unfettered capitalism not on I assume. Sxx

Have a look at one of the photos in the last blog – you’ll see a head chopped off if you look closely… Think the monks here do big drums in the morning – haven’t seen horns. Xx
