Fantastic mosaics and puzzling the wooden icon is mounted so close to the ground – are you supposed to prostrate yourself in front of it?
The Icon is on a tomb – supposedly Jerome’s. The cave was too little and too crowded with tourists to do anything except breathe the rather stifling air (I guess it was holy?) and get out!
