Happy New Year and welcome back to the blog

(Some of ) you will be delighted to learn that we are on the move again, off to India for three weeks to escape the dark days of winter and the ongoing work on our house.

Our first stop might not be all that warm and light as we are visiting Delhi properly for the first time rather than transiting through on the way to somewhere else. I think we’ll be wearing masks as the air quality index is showing ‘very poor’! But not to worry – there’ll still be photo opportunities, I am sure.

We’ll then revisit Jaipur in Rajasthan after more than a dozen years to see our friends Nikhil and Manjari. After that we’ll explore the centre and east of Madhya Pradesh (in the middle of India).

It promises to be an exciting trip, not least because we have a long train journey to Varanasi – the first proper train journey we’ll have done in India. (By proper, I mean long-distance so we get the full-on India Railways experience.)
